Mandala Maker

About Mandala Maker

Mandala Maker builds geometric mandalas, rosettes and radial designs from simple building blocks. Pick one of 200 base shapes - petals, stars, crosses, flowers, rings and many more - and repeat it around a center point with up to 24-fold symmetry and up to eight nested layers. Sliders for radius, size, rotation and per-layer scaling let you go from a minimal mark to an intricate ornament in seconds, and the randomize button is great for finding starting points you would never have dialed in yourself.

Designs can be drawn filled or as line art with adjustable line width, in any two colors. When you are happy with the result, download it as a crisp scalable SVG (perfect for further editing in vector tools) or as a high-resolution PNG.

200 shapes across eight families

The shape library spans eight groups: organic shapes such as leaves, feathers and animals; clean geometric primitives; stars and bursts; crosses and arrows; flowers and rosettes; rings and loops; rotational shapes such as spirals and pinwheels; and everyday symbols from anchors to musical notes. Every shape is tuned to look good both filled and as line art, so the same design can work as a bold logo mark or a delicate ornament.

How it works

  1. Pick a base shape

Start the app and choose from 200 shapes in eight families - or hit Randomize to find starting points you would never have dialed in yourself.

  2. Shape the design

Tune symmetry, layers, sizes and rotation, and choose your colors - drawn filled or as line art with adjustable width.

  3. Export and use anywhere

Download the finished design as a crisp scalable SVG or a high-resolution PNG - or copy it straight to the clipboard.

What can I use the designs for?

Anything: logos and avatars, poster and album art, wedding invitations, laser-cutting and plotter projects, embroidery patterns, sticker designs, or just relaxing visual play. Everything you create is yours to use freely, for personal and commercial projects alike - no attribution required. Need a matching background? Our Pattern Maker generates repeating patterns in the same colors - and there is more in the Create category.

Tips for beautiful mandalas

  • High symmetry (12 to 24) with thin lines gives intricate, lace-like mandalas; low symmetry (3 to 6) with filled shapes reads more like a logo or badge.
  • A layer rotation between 15 and 45 degrees makes the layers interlock instead of stacking on top of each other.
  • Scale per layer below 1.0 pulls the design inward toward the center; above 1.0 pushes the outer layers out for a bloom effect.
  • Press R for a completely new design, or V to keep the shape and shuffle everything else.

Frequently asked questions

What is a mandala?

A mandala is a design built around a center point with repeating, radially symmetric elements; the word comes from Sanskrit and means circle. Mandala Maker recreates that structure digitally: one base shape repeated around the center in rings and layers.

Is Mandala Maker free?

Yes, completely free, with no account, watermark or usage limits. The designs you make are yours to use in your own work, commercial projects included - see our License.

What is the difference between SVG and PNG export?

SVG is a vector format: it stays perfectly sharp at any size and can be edited further in tools like Inkscape, Illustrator or Figma. PNG is a 1600×1600 pixel image that works everywhere images work.

Can I make classic coloring-book mandalas?

Set the line width above zero for line art, choose a high symmetry (12-24) and add layers - the result prints nicely as a coloring page. The style stays geometric: bold, clean shapes rather than hand-drawn detail.

Can I export with a transparent background?

Yes - tick "Transparent background" and both the SVG and PNG downloads (and the clipboard copy) keep the background fully transparent, ready to place on top of any design.

Is anything uploaded to a server?

No. The whole tool runs in your browser; designs are generated and downloaded locally and nothing is stored when you close the page.

Can I use the designs commercially?

Yes. Everything you create with Mandala Maker is yours, free to use in personal and commercial projects alike, with no attribution required.

Can I design a logo with Mandala Maker?

Absolutely: a low symmetry, a filled style and the SVG export give you a clean, scalable logo mark you can refine further in any vector editor.

Are there keyboard shortcuts?

Yes: R randomizes everything, V makes a new variation with the same shape, and S opens the save menu.

Which browsers are supported?

All modern browsers: Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on desktop and mobile.
